Tips For Planning Your Days Better5 mins 29 Dec 20
Step up your wellness and plan your days like a pro
In the past couple of weeks, we have been writing about the importance of planning and how this can improve your wellness and diet with the right mindset.
Today, we are digging a little deeper with tips on how you can plan your days like a pro to ensure you meet your wellness targets. However, these tips are not merely boxes that need to be ticked – they can contribute to your wellness in a meaningful way. Here are 5 steps to help you to get started:
1. Get up at the same time every day
Sounds like an obvious goal, right? Well, the fact of the matter is when you get into this routine, you will feel less frazzled in the mornings – especially if you overslept – and be better prepared to map out your day according to every activity that needs attention.
2. Plan fitness activities according to your schedule
It can be tempting to go to an exercise session on the fly, but realistically, that can throw off your schedule for the day completely if you haven’t factored in all aspects, such as preparing dinner (which can lead to ordering greasy takeout) or school pickups that often take between 30 minutes and 1 hour depending on your commute.
So, create a schedule that works!
3. Add meal prep to your list
In a previous blog, we touched on the importance of meal prep and how it can free up time during your busy day. So, plan in this activity for when it is the most ideal – and ensure that what you prepare can be easily heated or consume by family members the next day!
4. Schedule family time...
As parents, we often forget to schedule in some much-needed family time – especially when our careers keep us super busy and we are still working on our mobile devices at night. However, having that time to connect and talk about each other’s days is important: we need to ensure that we are providing the support our families need and that their wellness is prioritised.
5. But have a little me-time too!
Don’t let the myriad flow of tasks consume your days – create time slots where you can enjoy the things you love too! Whether you enjoy painting, are passionate about reading or baking, put it on your daily planner. Speaking of …
Bonus tip: Invest in a hardcopy or digital planner
Making mental notes about your day ahead is great, but writing them down will ensure that you do not lose focus on what you would like to achieve per day. A desk planner works equally well – seeing the reminders for concert recitals or gym slots will help you to stay focused and take the stress out of forgetting. So, choose an option that works the best for you and make it happen!
